The goal of this project is to combine geodemographic classifications, mobility data, and travel survey data to produce detailed mobility profiles to inform more inclusive, sustainable, and net-zero aligned transport policies.

The Problem

A key barrier to addressing this issue is the lack of high-resolution data and methods to capture how mobility behaviours change across groups and places. Existing sources provide either fine spatial detail with little demographic information, or rich demographic profiles at coarse spatial scales. This gap prevents policymakers from fully understanding which communities are underserved and how interventions affect them.

This project will generate new geomobility profiles integrating digital traces, travel surveys, and geodemographics. The outputs will include:

  • High-resolution datasets linking mobility patterns to demographic groups.
  • An open, interactive mapping tool to explore inequalities in accessibility
  • They typically focus on commuting trips, missing the full picture of daily mobility
  • Policy-relevant evidence identifying underserved groups and evaluating the equity impacts of decarbonisation measures.
